Rotting Post
Rotten posts should be removed from the crawlspace and replaced with pressure treated wood. When rot can be seen in the wood, it has lost 70 to 80% of its strength.

All wooden debris should be removed from the crawlspace. Water should never be allowed to stand on the vaporbarrier.

Rats can easily enter this crawlspace. It must be secured by installing quarter inch mesh galvanized steel wire hardware cloth.
Foliage touching siding.
The plant touching the siding allows carpenter ants to easily enter the structure. It also allows the siding to absorb moisture. A walkway should separate all shrubs away from the siding.

Icynene insulation is not usually affected by carpenter ants in this manner.

This shows the sheathing is rotting under the siding. These reproductive bodies are only hanging onto the siding.
